Best for smoothies in NZ

If it tastes good it must be really bad for you, right? That’s not necessarily the case when it comes to fruit smoothies.

Rich in vitamins, fruit smoothies are a delicious way to quench your thirst for something sweet this summer – and, when made with low-fat or non-fat yoghurt, they are nearly always a healthier option than ice cream.

Here are some of our favourite places for fruit smoothies in New Zealand.

Yoghurt Story, Auckland

We’ve covered the health benefits of eating low-fat yoghurt before, in our guide to the best low-fat dining options, but suffice it to say that Yoghurt Story’s all-natural, non-fat and low-fat fruit smoothies are the perfect treat for the health-conscious sweet-tooth.

Flavours include Yoghurt mango, Banana Lover, Berry-Yo and Tropical Story.

Habitual Fix, Auckland and Wellington

Habitual Fix has seemingly taken over Auckland and Wellington with its brand of fresh food. It sells salads, sandwiches and wraps but its smoothies are the real deal. Try a Mangoholic, Berry Chronic, Strawberry Pash or Choc Bomb today.

Tank Juice Bar, Nationwide

Similarly, Tank Juice Bar is another one that’s seemingly taking over the country – meaning you’re never far away from a fresh fruit fix. Loaded with up to six servings of fruit in every drink, Tank’s smoothies and juices are a sweet treat that’s easy on your waist and your taste buds.

Altura, Auckland

Lactose free and 99% fat free (we won’t worry about that 1% if you don’t!), Altura’s fruit smoothies are a delicious treat on a hot summer’s day in Auckland. They come in a great range of flavours, too, with plenty of fresh juices also on the menu.

New Zealand Natural, Nationwide

New Zealand Natural is everywhere, which is great news for people looking for premium ice cream and nutritious and delicious smoothies. Ranging from 97-99% fat free, these smoothies make for the perfect snack between meals. Be warned, however – New Zealand Natural’s ice cream sundaes may prove too tempting.

Sweet As Café, Nelson

Sweet as by name and nature, Sweet As Café in Nelson is where you’ll find great fruit smoothies made from real New Zealand fruit. They’re delicious, alright – so delicious that you will forget all about fatty ice-creams and milk shakes.

Vic’s Café, Christchurch

Famous for its brilliant berry smoothies, Vic’s Café in Christchurch boasts a relaxed and casual atmosphere, great coffee and fresh food. To avoid temptation we suggest you order a smoothie to go.
