The ultimate guide to SkyCity Auckland bars

You’ve beaten the house at Auckland’s SkyCity casino – or, more likely, it’s beaten you – and you’re looking for a bar or pub to celebrate/commiserate your good/bad fortune.

You’re in luck because you’re never far away from a watering hole inside SkyCity, Auckland’s own world-class entertainment complex – not including the many excellent SkyCity restaurants, most of which are fully licensed.

From some of Auckland’s most luxurious bars to its sportiest pub, this is our guide to SkyCity Auckland’s many brilliant bars and pubs.

Sky Lounge Café & Bar

Café by day, casual bar by night, SkyCity’s Sky Lounge is the highest bar in New Zealand.

It’s the perfect place for a coffee during the day and a glass of champagne or a cocktail at night, all while enjoying amazing panoramic views over Auckland.

SkyCity’s most fashionable bar is a lavish “O”-shaped bar envisaged by award-winning designer Tom Skyring.

X.O. is all about elegant ambience, high-quality services, cocktails and canapés. It’s the place to be seen, resplendent in its elegant interior with champagne in hand.

Twentyone is another luxury bar that’s ideal for after-work drinks or for a late night clubbing.

Boasting some of the best beats in town, twentyone is one part sophistication, two parts style. Like XO, it’s one of those fashionable Auckland city bars that you want to be seen at.

Red Hummingbird

At the foot of the Sky Tower lies the Red Hummingbird, one of Auckland’s most intriguing bars.

With an interesting décor as well as an eclectic, vibrant and fun atmosphere – Red Hummingbird is well worth a look if you’re in the mood for something different.

The Lobby

The Lobby is a calm sanctuary in Auckland city – and indeed SkyCity itself – with a stylish and sophisticated ambience.

Perfect for a quiet drink at any time of day, The Lobby also features live entertainment and has artwork by some of the country’s most celebrated artists on its walls.

The Nation’s Club Rooms

The Nation’s Clubrooms was designed with the sport-mad Kiwi in mind, boasting live coverage of all major sporting events, multiple big screens and TAB on site.

A sport-lover’s paradise, The Nation’s Club Rooms are home to the Blues, The Breakers and The Warriors. Make it your local.

Aces is SkyCity’s best bar for people-watching because it overlooks the casino gaming floor.

Kick off a big night at Aces and then try your luck gambling big (or small) at the poker tables or slot machines – or relax with a beer or cocktail and just soak in the atmosphere.

The Deck

In partnership with scotch whiskey Chivas Regal, The Deck is a sophisticated bar with a lively atmosphere – especially with a line-up of DJs and musicians constantly coming to visit.

Meet your mates here and enjoy a few cocktails, watch some sport or have a dance. The Deck is the place to get away from it all.

Located on the main casino floor, Rouge is like the eye of the storm or an oasis of calm in the heart of the SkyCity action.

Either way, it’s a good spot to take a break and relax with a coffee or something a little stronger. It’s the closest bar to the action – so you should be able to find it without any troubles.

Sammy’s Place

Who’s Sammy? We don’t know – but his place is just like a good pub should be.

If you need a great place to meet your mates, then Sammy's Place is it. It's more casual, more relaxed than some of the other SkyCity offerings – which should do just nicely if you’re looking for an all-day breakfast, burgers and fries.
