Where To Eat… St. Heliers Bay

St. Heliers Bay is one of the most picturesque of all of Auckland’s suburbs. Being just 15 minutes from the city it’s close enough for a night out but also far enough away that you don’t have to endure the hustle and bustle every day. Tamaki Drive runs along the beach side in St. Heliers and is dotted with some great places to dine with a view.

Moreton’s Bar & Restaurant is a firm favourite with St. Heliers locals. With a comfortable bar where you can enjoy a leisurely drink overlooking the sea, friendly staff and a great food menu, it’ll soon become a firm favourite with you too. Their menu caters for everyone, at any time, with features such as the $13 Bakers Dozen Lunch Menu (where everything is $13), Platters and a brunch menu too. The view alone, overlooking the water and Rangitoto, makes this place well worth a visit.

With Mission Bay and it’s plethora of great cafes only a stone’s throw away, St. Heliers and it’s breakfast haunts need to be on top form if they’re going to get the local crowd to stay and Mission Bay locals to stray. La Vista Café does just that! It’s breakfast menu is to the point and contains all your favourites, the interior is funky and the staff are friendly. A great way to spend a Sunday morning after a heavy Saturday night!

It really is all about the view when you’re dining in St. Heliers. Obviously the food you’re eating play a big part but the views will make your meal so much better. One restaurant that’s a hidden gem is Angel Thai. Located upstairs on Tamaki Drive the views looking over Rangitoto are enough to make you want to stay forever. The food is a bonus too – with great tasting Pad Thai and noodles cooked to perfection. It’s BYO wine too which’ll save you a few bucks on the bill.
